The failure of the tail boom structure due to cyclic torsion overloading as of a result of flutter in the empennage. The reason for the flutter could not be determined.
The pilot’s improper landing flare which resulted in a hard landing. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s failure to follow the checklist to remove the wing wheel and tail dolly before takeoff.
The pilot’s inadequate inflight management of the motor glider’s available battery power, which resulted in the inability of the electric motor to provide sufficient thrust to sustain flight in an environment where no atmospheric lift was available.
